Why I built Root

I found myself returning to this question again and again, after watching health slowly become harder inside my own family.
As a child, you assume the adults around you will always be okay. It isn’t until you’re older that you begin to understand the weight of chronic stress, burnout, diabetes, cancer, and all the small decisions that quietly shape our health over time.
As I listened to mothers, one thing became impossible to ignore.
Almost every mother already knew what healthy looked like.
They didn’t need another meal plan, another article, or another app telling them what they should do.
They needed support that fit real life.
Over the past several months, I’ve spent hundreds of hours in this space, speaking with mothers and researching the invisible barriers that make caring for their own health so difficult. Those conversations completely changed how I think about behaviour change, support, and what technology could be.
That’s why I’m building Root.
My hope is simple.
If we can help one mother care for her own health a little more consistently, the impact doesn’t stop with her. It reaches her family, the people around her, and the generations that follow.
I believe mothers deserve support that helps caring for their own health feel possible again.
That’s the future I’m building toward.
